Scope

radiation detection instruments. These instruments are used for detection of photon-emitting radioactive materials and quantification of photon exposure rates. Instruments are used for the purposes of detection, interdiction, and prevention.This standard does not apply to instruments that are primarily intended to provide a measurement of dose equivalent, or dose equivalent rate.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to specify technical performance requirements and performance testing requirements for those purchasing and using portable radiation detectors for Homeland Security applications.

Abstract
