This paper will describe the procedure Energy Optimization Water Distribution Operations Model (EOWDOM) uses to determine the optimal pump groups at the individual treatment plants and at designated booster stations. Additionally, the paper will describe how operators can use the program as a tool to more closely manage operating costs and how the program can be used to train new operators to learn energy-efficient ways of operating the system. The proposed methodology is expected to produce tangible monetary benefits in addition to providing system operators with a tool which will allow them to assess the impact of their decisions prior to actually setting them into motion.
