Full Description
Tank maintenance programs for utilities operating many water storage tanks have traditionally been done on a predetermined periodic basis, or as emergencies dictated rehabilitation. In order to serve their approximately one-million customers on the eastern two-thirds of Long Island, the Suffolk County Water Authority maintains approximately 60 tanks. As one of the largest water authorities in the United States, Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) has experienced and solved many tank-related problems. Approximately six years ago, amidst changing environmental and drinking water regulations, SCWA embarked on a program of systematic evaluation of all tanks. In attempting to prioritize the tanks, it was necessary to implement a Condition Rating and Maintenance Prioritization System. As a result, the coating and rehabilitation of some tanks were delayed, and work on other tanks was accelerated. Product Details
