Reuse of water resources has helped to reduce the growing pressures for finding new water supplies in some communities. However, as many water utilities are finding, new problems have arisen related to financing the improvements to make reclaimed water available. The following discussion reviews some of the primary financing sources for reclaimed water systems and focuses on pricing methods as the most commonly used funding mechanism. The alternative pricing approaches are identified and compared with pricing methods applied to potable water.
