The objectives of this study were to provide information on the efficiency and the reliability of organic microfiltration membranes to remove turbidity from karstic waters. It is known that some regions of France, with predominantly calcareous soils, are vulnerable to surface infiltration (rainfall...). High turbidities can appear in groundwaters accompanied by unusually high concentrations of suspended solids, iron, aluminum, organic matter and microorganisms. In these cases, microfiltration can be much more interesting than conventional treatment with respect to the quality of water produced, as well as many advantages including compactness, quick start-up time and ease of maintenance.
