Full Description
Small and medium size industries that have a choice of alternative water supplies are faced with the question of should we use our own source of water or should we connect to a municipal supply? Economics always enter into these decisions and sometimes not all of the costs and other related considerations are factored into the economic equation. Municipal water supplies offer benefits to industry in terms of a readily available source of supply, predictable quality characteristics, and reasonable cost. Where water quality is an important consideration for an industry, a municipal supply might offer some distinct advantages over a private source. In this paper, the primary focus will be on water supply considerations for the small or medium sized industry. An overview of industrial water use is presented, especially for those business segments that are not big users of water. Factors are discussed such as water quality, treatment, and cost considerations that might affect source selection, and benefits of public versus privately-owned supplies. Product Details
