The purpose of this paper is to give you a brief overview of epidemiology particularly its promise to setting the regulatory/policy agenda. Then a brief description of some epidemiology concepts useful to interpret epidemiological studies with special attention to environmental epidemiology. Finally, the paper concludes with a case study that examines two current topics in environmental health.
