Full Description

Over the years electrodialysis reversal technology's advantages and limitations have established a set of design principles to ensure each EDR desalination plant operates safely, economically, efficiently, and with minimal maintenance. These considerations fall into four categories: the hydraulic sub-system, the membrane stack, instrumentation and the electrical sub-system. Hydraulic design considerations address process stream control and include piping, pumps and valves. The issues of EDR membrane stack design focus on desalination chemistry and the physical limitations of the stack components. Plant instrumentation, by design, provides the necessary information to operate an EDR system. Finally, the electrical design considerations encompass control functions and the rectifier and direct current (DC) power supply required for EDR desalting.
