Full Description

In this plant, recycled permeate is pumped from a permeate system pressure of 20 psig up to a typical feed pump suction pressure of 30- 40 psig by a simple eductor driven by a side-stream taken from the feed pump discharge. Thus, the feed pump supplies the pumping energy although a small motor-driven pump could be used instead. At startup, the plant achieved an overall iron rejection of about 90% at a feed pH of 5.7 and 80% overall product recovery. Based on pilot test results and other experience with the NF70 membrane, overall iron rejection is expected to increase to about 92% during the first few months of operation.
