Full Description

This paper describes three separate techniques for the selection of a desalination or softening, (reverse osmosis or nanofiltration), membrane. These techniques would only apply to membranes that rely on a diffusion controlled process for mass transfer of the solute from the feed stream to the permeate stream. This paper is ordered into sections discussing theory of diffusion controlled membranes, field operations, results of a membrane selection study, summary and conclusions.
