Full Description
Over the last five years, engineers and water utilities have frequently expressed concern about the cause of Interpace, a pipe supplier, failures of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) products. In 1988, Price Brothers Company presented a paper that speculated on the causes, but it was not until 1990 that testimony in two separate court cases permitted detailed evaluation of the opinions of experts and two former employees of Interpace. This paper summarizes the most current information available and demonstrates that PCCP made today does not follow the practices used by the defunct Interpace. Hydrogen embrittlement, mortar coatings, quality assurance, and comments on performance are presented. Product Details
