Water purveyors have an obligation to save energy and reduce costs. This paper addresses two areas of effective energy management; conservation of energy and saving money through energy management. The authors offer specific suggestions for saving energy (power factor correction through use of induction motors, for example) and saving money (negotiating rates, locating power meters, use of interruptible power supply, etc.).
