Full Description
This paper discusses selected technology issues of Agency for International Development funded rural water supply projects in Latin America. It focuses on gravity-system water projects without filtration or pumping. The great majority of AID projects provide for plastic pipe, gravity flow systems with distribution to household yard taps, and with latrines for sanitary waste disposal. Topics covered include water supply sources, water quality, gravity system techniques, costs, construction quality and system performance, and sizing and sustainability. Although the data reported come from AID projects, the technologies discussed differ little from projects of similar size funded by other agencies. Product Details
