The Seattle Water Department decided in 1994 to select and implement an automated work management system and to redesign its traditional work approaches to reflect best industry. This paper reviews the implementation process and focuses on what other utilities can learn from Seattle's mistakes as well as it's successes. It concludes with a brief discussion of the benefits Seattle enjoys from having gone through the effort of implementing a work management system.
