Today, there is a broad range of waterborne coatings available to choose fromwhen selecting coatings for areas where corrosion control and durability are key--including water and wastewater treatment applications. With the exception ofimmersion and secondary containment, where waterborne coatings are notrecommended, these coatings, once considered less effective than solvent-bornesystems, are becoming the preferred formulation. This paper briefly discussesU.S. guidelines on industrial coatings, the benefits of waterborne coatings anddescribes the three primary types of waterborne coatings.
