This article describes a bench-scale study which was conducted to specifically evaluate virus rejection by the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane structure without considering the effect of the interconnectors or the glue lines. Five commercially available RO membranes were evaluated in this study. Three were made of a polyamide (composite) material. The other two were made of cellulose acetate. MS2 bacterial virus was employed as the model virus for the study. The results of the study are discussed. Includes 7 references, tables, figures.
