Full Description
The challenge of designing and building a 94-ML/d water treatment plant to meet new water quality standards was successfully accomplished by the Bridgeport Hydraulic Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The construction site for the Trap Falls Reservoir in Shelton, Connecticut, located near a highway and several dwellings, required an aesthetic architectural solution as well as the use of unusual water treatment technology. A fast-track design and construction program achieved the desired results within the time limit set by regulatory agencies at a cost below the original estimate. This paper describes the Trap Falls project, discusses design alternatives, construction, staffing and training, and operating results. Coagulation and flocculation processes are also discussed, as well as Lamella sedimentation and sludge production, and filtration. Includes tables, figures. Product Details
