In 1976 the city of Carbondale, Illinois began using a commercial phosphate compound for corrosion control rather than caustic soda as sodium hydroxide for pH control. This article discusses the advantages of using the phosphate compound, including decreased chemical costs, improved safety conditions, and reduced maintenance of machinery and equipment.
