The Manatee County, Florida utilities system undertook plant and laboratory studies which enabled a 46 percent expansion of treatment plant capacity while saving about $2 million in construction costs and $10,000 in energy consumption. Alum dosages, polymer concentration and addition points, pH, flocculation time and sludge recycling were included in the study. Includes tables, figures.
